The IMC program is proud of Lindsay Charlesworth, an IMC graduate from 2012, who was recently recognized for the unique marketing communications campaign she created for Waterloo Regional Police Services. The campaign, which integrated online and offline components, was designed to create awareness among high school students about gangs. Officially called the 8 Days of SWAG, the campaign promoted Facebook and Twitter activity around specific content with prizes to be won every day. Posters, displays, and talks in local high schools helped to drive traffic to the social media sites. A new question was posed every day and students could post their responses, comments, and reflections. Lindsay connected with another Conestoga grad Shayne Heathfield (Advertising, 2013) who handled the graphic elements of the campaign.
The campaign won an international award, competing against campaigns in the UK and US. The award was presented at a law enforcement conference held in Omaha, Nebraska, in September where Lindsay presented the campaign.
Lindsay returned to Conestoga recently to share her story with this year’s class, outlining the IMC steps she used to create and launch her campaign.
